JOSEPH SCHAFER WILL LEAD AS EXECUTIVE CHEF AT EARTH AT HIDDEN POND

KENNEBUNKPORT, ME (June 27, 2017) – Tim Harrington, founding partner of the Kennebunkport Resort Collection (KRC), announced today that Joseph A. Schafer has been named the executive chef of Earth at Hidden Pond.  His appointment is effective today.

“It is with great pleasure that we bring Joe Schafer back to Kennebunkport to helm the kitchen at Earth,” Harrington said. “Joe’s energy, expertise, and creativity will further burnish Hidden Pond’s luxury reputation.”

Schafer spent eight years at The Lodge at Glendorn, a Relais & Chateaux property in Bradford, PA, where he served as executive chef, co-general manager, and director of food and beverage.  While there, he led the restaurant to achieve its first AAA Four Diamond rating, and earned the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence eight years in a row.  In addition to the creation of daily menus and a wine list of 350 selections, he built and managed an onsite garden that produced 72 varieties of vegetables for the

In October 2012, former Chef Kevin Walsh and Earth won “Top of the Crop – Best Farm to Table Chef” at the annual Harvest on the Harbor event. Chef Walsh prepared Farro Cavitelli, Chicken Ragout, Wild Mushrooms and Heirloom Squash for the sold-out crowd to enjoy.

In August 2011, the Portland Press Herald granted us FIVE stars, after enjoying their dining experience with us. Earth’s review made the front page of the Dining Section and for that, we are so honored!
