Thank you for another great year! Earth at Hidden Pond is currently closed for the winter, and we look forward to welcoming you in May 2019.

The Farm

Fresh herbs, heirloom vegetables, edible flowers…much of Earth’s produce comes from a breathtaking onsite garden called the Farm. Flanking Hidden Pond’s Reception Shed, near the main entrance, the Farm spans upwards of 3,200 square feet and was designed by Gina Marianacci of Flora Creative Designs and owner Tim Harrington. Sweet scents linger in the air, rising from the vast array of offerings growing throughout the summer. The Farm’s garden boasts fresh vegetables such as beets, squash, Swiss chard, lettuces, peppers and tomatoes, while resident herbs include Lemon Balm, Thai Basil, Lavender, and Vietnamese Cilantro.

There are many edible flowers as well, including Nasturtium, Calendula, Sweet William and Pansies. Guests of Hidden Pond are encouraged to pick anything they’d like for cooking with, simply adding a little more color to their cottages or even as a breakfast cereal topper. Our onsite gardener lovingly tends the gardens on a daily basis and is available for questions or guidance. She shared that guest favorites, among adults, are fresh summer lettuces and wild cutting flowers, while the younger set enjoys carrot picking and ripe blueberries. Artichokes grown onsite are also a hot topic of discussion since the general consensus was that they couldn’t be grown in Maine. The Farm begs to differ…
